I have a 08 Forenza and I only get 25MPG (conservative driver). I thought they could at least do better than that like 30+ miles! Has anyone installed any fuel saver items in their cars? If so what, and how many extra miles are you getting? I'm thinking about purchasing one of those fuel chip modules on ebay will let you know the results.

Ya there gas mileage blows.. I went from 26, to 30, heres how...
I have a five speed btw.
Cold air intake, bumped up tire pressure, about 2 to 3 pounds more... lighter rims.. thats all.. well I do have a fart can but i dunno if that helped..
About the fuel chip, they suck..
I saw something on ebay i know some of the x-l7 dudes have used, and said helped... but i duno if it really works..
its a in essence a magnet you put on the fuel line that supposively seperates the molucules in the gas as to more effeciently use the gas.. again dont know if it works or not.

I hooked up my accelerator pedal in my car to my brake lights. I hit the gas, people behind me stop, and I'm gone.
the throttle body bypass really helped me out alot. With a CAI, Cat Back, the bypass, a grounding kit, and a port and polish i get close to 40 miles to the gallon highway. City's another story but when i'm just cruisin at 55 my needle doesn't budge. How many miles are on your car because they do have quite a long break in time too.
I think he is refering to exaust system, coolant TB bypass, and porting the intake manifold, the Throtle body, and exaust manifold.
I have done that and noticed quite a bit of diference. Didnt take long at all to do it (2 days). With a dremel and different bits.
First I ported the best I could the TB, knife edged the butterfly, matched the TB to the intake manifold, ported and got rid off casting marks on the intake manifold, port matched the intake manifold to the engine block, ported the area around the gas injectors, ported the exaust manifold, port matched the exaust manifold to the engine block, and after porting I polished polished where I ported. I also drilled 3 holes 3/4" diameter through the down pipe (good gain there).
i did one thing at a time so that I could notice the difference of each of them. I don't know how many HP i have gained doing this but the difference is easily noticed. now I have to be carefull taking off and changing to 2 otherwise it will burn my grippy yokohama tires!
You also have to remember to reset the ECU everytime you modify something. To do that (the way I do it) you disconnect the ground(-) of your battery, press the brake pedal about 10 times and wait about 1 min. Reconnect the ground and your good to go. Some ppl recomed letting your car run until it gets fully warmed, others to run hard on 1, 2, and 3 gear a couple of times.
I noticed a big different on the lower end (<100mph), but not much on higher end.
The TB bypass is: there is a hose running behind the TB that is supposed to warm the TB up when its cold, but why do you need VERY hot air going into your engine? It kills several HP in my opinion. So disconnect the hose and add a brass joint connecting the hoses.
I have noticed an incresed in MPG but I am still on the fisrt tank after the mods... I post what I get.
Does anybody now what kind of gains I got from doing this? I also have CAI (k&N) and Stock CAT piping with aftermarket mufler, and 4 gauge grounds to intake mani and 0 gauge bat neg to chasis. will do pos 0gauge from batt to alt. and other grounds.

Reason: Cant forget the Ground upgrade!
Depending on how you drive as well as having an AT or a MT you should get roughly around 30-35... I have a CAI, UD pulley, Grounding kit, ported throttle body, removed fog light covers, Lighter wheels, and I have also removed almost all of my interior including spare, except for the dash and 2 front seats. My car(if driven nicely) can get up to 42mpg... That is the most I have kept track of...
p.s. I also use Royal purple 5w30 motor oil... so that should make a difference on my mpg...
