Im not looking to tricking out my ride any way or how, but with what you have installed and getting about 40MPG i might consider it. I have about 2,500 miles. I just sold my 03 silverado about a month ago and it was tricked out to the T. Man do I miss her.

Yeh I found out the hard way, they are JUNK, the one I purchased was $25 bucks. So what do you recommend I do to get better MPG?

Anyone- Do those stupid Tornado things work? Those things you can buy off ebay and you install into your air hose? and supposively you get more HP and better MPG?

I think I just broke my car in. On like the last to tanks I've been averaging about 23-24 mpg in the city. I do mostly city driving, and before that I was averaging about 20 mpg. I got an 07 forenza with about 11,500 on it. I have a CAI, aftermarket muffler and exhaust and those damn magnets you stick on the fuel line. i think they work. i had some on my suburban before i sold it and the wifey didin't have to put gas in as often after the install. never really checked the mpg because i really didn't drive it. LMK if anybody finds out that the tornado thing works.

as i said before i get 16MPG.. we bought the car in january this year, its a 2006.... there's nothing written in the service schedule notebook... so my question is, if the car needs a service, would it chug THAT much more gas ? ... am i getting 16mpg cause it needs a service badly ? ..

CAI and grounding kit and port and polish I could see would help your MPG, but the throttle body bypass i would imagine would actually give you WORSE MPG especially in the winter if you have sub 34 degree F winters. Coolant through the throttle body helps the engine get up to temp faster and helps you reach optimum engine temperature faster.

I would have it looked at. You're only getting 2/3 to 3/4 the rated gas mileage. There are a bunch of things that can individually cause the problem, or a series of smaller things that when factored together can cause it was well. Either way, determining this is likely to drive you to a mechanic or dealer (if under warranty) anyway.

Check the easy stuff first, a clogged air filter or air duct will rob you of mileage and check for fouled spark plugs as well.
My next suggestion would be to check if your brakes are dragging, that would also rob you of gas mileage and would indicate the need for brake service, how long has it been since your last brake fluid change?

I just got my '04 Forenza about 3 weeks ago. I get more than double the gas mileage I got on the Isuzu Trooper I traded in for it. I've been tracking my mileage carefully because I've wanted to see my savings and I've increased my mileage steadily over the past 3 weeks.

I have recently discovered coasting in Neutral on downsloaps and I did over 170 miles on less than 5 gallons over this past weekend. That is awesome considering that I was only getting about 24-25mpg before I started coasting. I think I can do even better though.

I've seen those tornado things and the idea seems feasable but I'd like to hear someone elses results before I try it out.

One thing I am working on that could possibly more than double the mpg's I'm getting now is to install a system that converts water to a Hydrogen/Oxygen Gas and let the vacuum lines pull it into the engine. That should boost both the power and mileage and it will steam clean the inside of the engine and lower emissions.

The only problem with that is that the Oxygen sensors will notice the extra oxygen being exhausted and will start injecting more fuel to richen the mixture. I've gotta make a device to manually lean the mixture or buy one somewhere. Anyone know where I can get one?
