I've noticed a lot of you guys have performance chips in your cars. I've spent a lot of time looking, but haven't found anything for my application. Wonder how the rest of you found what you're using. Is it for another vehicle? What would you advise?
well I'm using a module in my 07 forenza with a cat back and a cold air intake the module was the last thing added. That was 7 weeks ago it made a big jump in throttle responce I was looking at a ud pulley kinky had one it was 199.99 buy it now went to buy it the next day it's now 299.99 buy it now is that worth 300 bucks? or nos has that sniper kit it's the frogger soft plum for 399.99 (30,50,75hp)?????? what is the better buy oh the nos kit is the 07005nos.

Reason: spelling
UD pulley. I still think $300 is well worth the pulley, in my opinion it's still pretty equal in bang for the buck as the BMS intake...which are the best two bangs for the bucks.
I don't like the idea of running NOS unless it's a "wet" kit. Not sure if they one you listed is or not...if it isn't then without at least a piggy back to tune it with a 55 shot won't have much more power than the UD pulley and 55shot isn't solid safe (for dry kit) but shouldn't cause problems. Even the wet kits 55shot isn't actually 55hp, not really sure how much it is though.
Also with the pulley your getting better response, quicker revs, better shifting,... not to mention it's always on.
I like the idea of nitrous, but I wouldn't use it before intake, cat-back, test pipe (or headers), and pulley. I'm a strong beleiver in having all the power unleashed from the engine before adding any.
All righty, reviving a slightly older thread here...
My boyfriend's boss drives a 2004 EVO. He has spent a lot of money on mods for the car... Recently, he said he had taken it out and had hit a limit of 125mph - couldn't go any faster. Now, a year ago whilst being stupid, my boyfriend and I decided to put the pedal to the floor to see how much the car would open up. Before I told him to stop and slow down, I think we managed over 135mph?
Apparently, his boss had a guy work on his car's ECU and now he's able to push his car farther than 125mph. Out of curiosity, since our ECU has such a nice ability to adapt to new add-ons, would it be even necessary to mess with it to further tap into the car's potential?
car are built with a rev limiter. it prevents cars from going over a certain speed. when chips are put in or ecu reprogramed they usually get rid of it. the learning feature of the ecu is nice but can only do so much. unless you have a bunch of mods it will be fine. at some point you might want to look into a pigyback ecu for tuning.

The best a few guys could get with a piggy back on a 2.0l optra with CAT-back, SRI, and UD pulley was .75hp...not even worth the tuning.
I doubt you got 135mph though, and if you did your speedos way off. Nealy stock our cars usually struggle to do 120mph. Also I don't know of any manufactures that have rev/speed limiters at 125mph and the evo should easily hit over that completely stock.
why dont you think he got to 135 in a evo with some mods and a reflash or chip?
Hmm... I think untainted said the evo topped out at 125 and the forenza/reno at 135mph. Either way that's weak for an evo, it should do 149-157mph from the factory
