Depends on the Matrix - he might have the XRS with the extra HP and the 6-speed. If he does, he'll have fun replacing the clutch every 30 or 40 K miles.

you know I've not even hit 3000 rpm on my reno I know there's a whole lot of engine in there (only .4 liters smaller than my truck which seems to have an unstopable engine for its size). But I still bought this car for economy without feeling like I'm in a swift, metro, festiva, etc... I can afford more but I am a cheapskate deep down I'll keep and maintain this for 10-12 years so it can pay me back after I pay for it. When I do get down to getting a propane conversion done payback will be quicker (cng to little access in spite of superiority)

I say though for 14g I sure got a damn better deal than the same 14 I dropped on each of the toy(s). I hope that it ends up being as reliable.

I got some geat new. I saved a bunch of money by putting carpet under my gas peddel.

Um... no. I don't think so, there still civics that need to be brought down a notch or two around here

Well, he was asking for ways of saving on gas. You'd think the obvious ones like "Uh...don't drive so fast" and tire pressure wouldn't need to be mentioned.

If you can't control the driver's habits, control the car. Governors work for saving on gas....even homebrew ones

Sorry pall, but that was from Tom at 360. You can mail him and see if he has any left, but 360 is gone *moment of scilence*

It replaces the Underdrive pully. That pully is a 10Lb chunk of cast iron. The new one is a smaller diamiter, 1Lb billet aluminum. Its main Perpose is to help the engine to drop the RPMs faster, allowing me to shift sooner.

Also, I have realised, that mialage was mostly weekend freeway.

P.S. never hit 3K on the tach? Let me know when you sell the reno. It woant have any use on it

Just got home from a 2-hour each-way drive on the freeway... I'm stoked.

80-88 mph, AC on the whole way... and I got 30.42 mpg. The best tank yet, with the AC!

On the return trip tonight, I didn't have the AC on, and kept it at about 78-79. I'll fill it up in the AM and see what that tank did.

As far as shifting before 3000, I have been doing that too. Then it crept up to 3500... then 3750... 4000...and it seems to give better performance around town, without a significant impact on mileage. In fact, I've gotten progressively better mileage with every in-town tank so far. I'm getting just under 25 in town.

so far I get 32 - 30 mpg yet to do any mods almost 3500 to go popane and epa rules have muddied the waters to make conversions costly the payback numbers just are not there for me (esp. since the reno gets good milage) but on the other hand if your commute is great as schoolpsych then it might be as little as a year

Im thinking the biggest single impact on the 06 is the eletronic throttle. I didn't think it would be a 15% improvement on highway miles, but last fill up was 407 miles on 11.9 gallons, so its not some sort of fluke. Its a fluke I'll ceratinly take though
