I'm a computer tech by trade (which means I have basic skills with tools and troubleshooting), and have replaced spark plugs/wires, but that's as far as I've gotten in self maintenance. I'd like to save the labor and install new front rotors myself (and maybe pads) but I'm hesitant since It's pretty serious/costly if I screw up.

Bent the stock steel rim on my 05 Forenza. Got a replacement on ebay, but....
it seems that somewhere in 04 05 model changeover, the size of the center hub changed. Not sure which way it went, but I need a wheel with a small center hub, smaller than 65mm. Are these really that hard to find? Not any on Ebay, or local junk yards.

Alright so I suck at titles so you'll have to forgive me. ;) Anyways I know at least on my little 07 reno my tires are 195/50/15 82h(have no idea what that h is for) and yeah I know dinky tires.

So now for the problem, I've done gone and did 'research' on tires cheap-expensive. And I've found out I know nothing! I'm just looking for a good priced/quality tire that does good on long drives. I manage about 101.8 miles Mon-Fri for work and my current tires are reaching their deaths. So I turn to you all knowledgeable people.

What tires work best for you, like grippage, road & highway noise. Ah current tires are ectsa. (I think that's how you spell it) And I'm really not liking the highway noise/vibration they make.

And I've had front end alignment done, balance and rotate. It's just an annoying vibration nothing major.

I know this is getting long and outta control just thought I'd like to say is, I've never (knock on wood!!!) had major problems, except for that stupid oil leak by the oil plug bolt thing!

thanks for the heads up and comments ;)

i was driving up a mountain road the other day and drove over a large bump where they had been paving going about sixty. bam, my left front strut is now busted. it rattles over every bump now. so its time to switch them out. anybody have a good replacement idea? i want the car lowered. the variants seem cool, but expensive. i don't want to buy them for street use just to have them wear out 50,000 miles from now. but, the cost of new struts and lowering springs could approach the price of the variants. anybody?
