Baleno Not Starting

I have a 1997 Baleno - Domestic Japanese model. It is not starting. The CEL comes on normally, when checked the code and got a ‘12’ that I interpret to be normal. The engine turns over OK but I do not think the -ve voltage is reaching the injectors, if my digital meter is to be believed.
The real trouble is that I am not sure what to do next mainly because the manuals I have been able to find on line are not exactly for the domestic Japan models, as I have noticed the ECM and a few other important things are quite different. I wish I could get some suggestions as to what to do next.
Just one final note - I think my nephew was trying to change the spark plug wires (because the car kept stalling in traffic and hard to start) and after which we came upon this staring problem. I think the wires are now connected OK but any help to confirm this would be good – it does not have a distributor; 2 coils/igniters are mounted just behind the camshaft to provide spark – I am getting spark for all cylinders.
Specs - Type E-GC21S; Chassis GC21S-412; Engine G15A. The ECM p/n is 33920-64GZ 5A (the connectors seem different to those in the export models)

2002 Esteem 1.8 glx wagon. auto.

In the process of installing a new engine in the car. The engine fires up but when I put the car in D it goes backwards. Any thoughts?

Is it true that I have to remove the transmission to replace the filter? can anyone confirm?

Recently I put on a new Spectre Performance Air Intake system and since then my car has been overheating.

Could the overheating issue be from the air intake system that I put on, or do you think it's something else? Just for safe keepings I've bought a new thermostat just to see if that's it but I have not had a chance to put it in yet.

Could it be something else? It seems when I'm going a constant speed over 40MPH the engine is cooled and fine because the air is hitting the radiator I guess so it's not overheating.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi, any suggestions to stop my serpentine belt from squeaking constantly, especially during short trips, ie: 1/2 hour long. We've replaced it twice to no avail. Long trips ie: 2-3 hours long and it seems to be fine until you start it up again!
Also, during our recent rainy weather, we've had water leaking around the windshield along the inside of the driver's side window and along the top of windshield and across to the passenger side of the windshield.
We have had the windshield replaced prior to this and the installers have tested for leaks and have found none?!? They have also apparently tried under the first bracket of the roof rack and it's not leaking there either!
We've had an inch of water in the driver's side foot well and wet upholstery along top of windshield. Totally confused where it could be coming from-any ideas??? Thanks in advance.

2000 Esteem Creaky Strut

It's getting colder now (somewhere around freezing) and I'm getting a creaking/groaning sound from one of my rear struts. Sounds kinda like plastic creaking, but I'm not sure. Happens on any bump or turn, etc., and can be heard from both inside and outside the car. It didn't happen last winter (when I bought the car).

The strut seems to work fine (dampens oscillations immediately). Anyone else get this?

Specific Oil needed for Suzuki Esteem 2000?

Hi,
I have changed a certain part in transmission and added regular oil in there,
it worked well for some time, but now the transmission stopped working properly,
it stucks in first and second gear, giving high RPMs,
when I release the gas acceleration pedal the in goes smooth.

I thought may be this is because of the wrong oil I added?

is there a specific oil for this model?

Thanks in advance

Timing cover for G16?

Is the timing cover from a Sidekick with a 1.6 interchangeable with the timing cover from my 1998 Esteem Wagon with a 1.6?

The current cover warped and the timing belt wore a hole in the center, just above the nut. Some of the bolt holes have broken, so it needs replaced. I see that aftermarket Sidekick covers are about half the price of the OEM part from the Suzuki dealer. From the photos, they look identical, but that's no perfect way to tell.

I took it to Pep Boy and they replaced the plugs and wires. After this repair the car is still having the same symptoms. The mechanic at Pep Boys suggests I take it to the dealer and thinks it may be the coils.

Does anyone have anything else to suggest before I bite the bullet and take it in to the dealer.

So my mom was in an accident and the clutch can't be pressed at all. I want to see if the motor still works but I can't start it up since the clutch won't go in.

Apparently the cop's told my mom that the car was still running and then the officer turned it off... So it was running after she hit a pole. I just need to start it up somehow and by not being able to press on the clutch is making it impossible.

Does anyone know where I can jump the wires so it thinks that the clutch is in?

Thanks!!!

I just got a 97 Esteem with the 1.8l and I'm a noob to these cars. I got the car from my father-in-law. It has had no start problems for the past year. They have changed fuel pumps, sensors and just about anything else they can think of. I'm an electrician by trade so I troubleshoot, i'm not a parts-changer. Today the car didnt start and I began by jumping the fuel pump relay and got fuel pressure, Check! So it appears the computer is not telling the pump to come on, or the relay-on circuit is bad. Not seeing any pulses to the injectors during cranking. No spark while cranking either. I know that in alot of cars these days, the computer will not "tell" the fuel pump to come on, injectors to fire, or ignition to fire unless it receives the inputs it wants from certain sensors. so you have people throwing parts at them till they get lucky. The car has two coils, so if one went bad I think I would at least get some sputter from the other cylinders. I'm leaning towards the computer now, but I must make sure everything else is right. Humidity seems to also play a role in wether the car starts that day or not. What I could really use is a wiring diagram for the fuel, ignition, engine management, and computer systems. Any help or advice is wecome, Thank you!

Well it was raining yesturday and my mom was driving from work when she was about to turn right there was a car that came to a sudden stop in front of her. As she stepped on the breaks it locked up and started sliding, she panic'd and didn't want to hit the car in front of her and she turn the car into a pole.

I got some mechanical experience, I do most of the work on my car but I don't know where to start on this one and no idea if it's even fixable since the clutch won't even go in. The stick shift will go into gears but the clutch doesen't want to go in. I can't start it because the clutch can't go in and I tried to jump the clutch switch (At least I think that was the clutch switch) and it didn't even make a sound.

Here are some pictures of the damage.
