1998 Esteem GLX Wagon 1.6L. Been sitting in front of the house with half dismantled engine... after seeing how bad the crankshaft was worn and how flooded the engine was with metal shavings I gave up in disgust some months ago.
Now I'm game to try an engine swap, but before I go visit junkyards was wondering if anyone knew if I could fit any other years or models in or does it have to be an exact year/model match?
Thanks. -Don

As the title says im a samurai noob. Im actually a jeep guy when it comes to offroading but my little brother got a samurai for a first rig so im here to learn a few things cuz just like my jeeps, stock wont due. I know the search is my friend and I need to use it(im a JU member) so I will but any basic knowledge about the thing you could share would be appreciated. Was thinking we could start but doing a spring over axle lift to begin with and slightly larger tires too keep cost down. Its an 88 4 banger 5 speed, locking front hubs and thats all I can remember right now.

I have 5.125's on 31's now and its just not enough. I have a guy who has the 5.6's out of an old 89, but i was wondering If I should go for the 5.8's. The 5.8's are just real spendy and discontinued at the moment and I can get both 3rd members with the 5.6's for $400. But will they turn 33's?

I was thinking eventually going with the Low range transfer kit and 5.6's for 33's? any ideas? Will 5.6 be enough to at least turn the 33's? I realize my low range will suck either way until i get the transfer kit.

Anyone have 5.89 third member for sale?

Hi everyone!

I'm hoping that someone here would help me diagnose the problem I'm having. I have a 2000 Suzuki Swift, 1.6L, automatic transmission, and of late I've been having issues starting the car. I have had the starter replaced, a new set of ignition wires put in and new spark plugs but nothing has changed. The battery is brand new.

The problem is that sometimes the car won't start in the morning or after it's been sitting for a while. I hear a click and even some buzzing noise in the engine (the fuel pump?) when the key is turned, but no action, and no start. However, the car starts beautifully if I push down on the front-end of the car kind of bouncing it up and down or slam down the hood. After that it starts fine every time I turn the key until it sits for a while and then I have to do the 'bouncing' again. It seems there must be a loose connection issue somewhere but I don't know where.

I'm thinking I have the same problem as this poster but I am not sure.

Can anyone please help me? I depend on this car to get to and from work everyday :(

I've been trying to get my 87 Sammy project inspected in MD with no luck. I removed the whole body and replaced it with a VW Manx body so it's pretty wild looking. It has all the safety and requied items but since it doesn't look like a std car no one really wants to inspect it.

One shop inspected it I made all his repairs but he is still giving me a hard time on my fenders...

Anyone know of a shop that would inspect it? I live in Balitmore but could bring most anyway if it meant getting it inspected. I can send pictures to help out.

Hi. Can anyone tell me how to remove a rear brake drum on a 1999 Vitara (Santano Motors). I have a leaky wheel cylinder so have to change the rear brakes.
Is there an adjuster to free off the shoes to allow the drum to come off?

If someone could talk me through the job that would be great. Worked on brakes before so just the very basics of getting the drum off would be fine.
Thanks Dave.

How Make 99-2004 Tracker Engine Reliable

After reading about the Problems
with the 2.0L Cam Sensor ($200)
and Timing Chain part Failures
($400 in parts)
and Coil Pack failures (4x 75=$300)

and 2.5L Poor Fuel mileage
(20mpg)
and Timing Chain Problems

After looking into all of this
I noticed that 1999-2000 2dr Trackers
has the 1.6L Engine.

The 1.6L engine is Very Reliable
but were Not installed in 1999-2004 4dr Trackers.

So a Solution is to Transplant
1999-2000 1.6L engine
into 1999-2004 4dr Trackers.

It is either that
or keep my 1996 Tracker (34mpg)
2wd 2dr 5spd
or buy a Toyota RAV4.

So a Solution is to Transplant
1999-2000 1.6L engine
into 1999-2004 4dr Trackers.

What do You think about this Idea?

.

Now its VERY VERY loud but my question is, will this hurt the engine? I have no converter or real muffler as well as larger tubing than stock. Ive been running it this way for months now with no side effects that I know of. just wondering
