by all means, go ahead.
i would love to follow your build.
it was not an insult just saying why i would rather not invest in another car. 4x4s are all about mods and the trouble would be heaps worth it. gain lower ratios and being able to run a locker plus alot more travel and being able to run larger lift without breaking cv's can run larger tires
i was just a idea to think about. so i did some research about what would be a good swap for the rear.
I found this which has the diff ratios of the various gv's
Suzuki-GrandVitara.info - Transmissionratio
atm i have the 2ltr man with 4.1 diff ratio so was thinking about getting a front diff from a newer 3door 2.4ltr which has the 5.125 diffs and then finding a rear housing from a 98-2005 gv with the 4link setup and getting a centre from a pre 98 with the 5.125 ratios which can take the locker, reading around the place the post 98 cant take the arb lockers but i think there might be a electric type that suits it so if thats the case would just get a 98-05 diff from a swb which also has the 5.125 ratio...
i think fitting the 90-05 gv rear axle could be made to all bolt upto the chassis. might have to cut the mounts off the diff and weld in different positions but you might be able to mount the lower control arms straight to the standrd positon on the chassis and the spring mount could reuse as with the stock mounts on the body. then would just need to make a bracket to bolt to the chassis to hold the top panhard mount and could bolt on a cross member with some mounts for the upper control arms...
another option would be to get front diff out of a v6 auto with the 4.3 ratio and a hilux with 4.3 ratio that way if eva want to swap front to live axle easy to match ratios with hilux diffs.
if anyone has seen this it goods a good idea of what can be done
