I did tell the service manager that I did some research and found others that were having the exact same problem. I was told that the 75% they were offering to pay was goodwill as it is not under warranty any longer, so I didn't push it. There is nothing they have to do if it is not under warranty unless it is a recall. At this time there is no recall. If there ever becomes a recall then the money I spent to repair it should be refunded.

I think if this a mass factory defect that is just now showing its ugly head, they will definitely get more complaints. The only thing is, this company is barely hanging on anyways and if you are lost as a customer it's not a big deal.

Angry Suzuki Xl7 2008 Pearl White Paint issue

Great, 2008 Pear white paint popping off. Past the typical 3 year warranty and Company not standing by their product. This car is not in snow, its driven normal amounts and no power washes. The Suzuki Rep on phone says this forum isnot affiliated with them so we must all be lying or stupid (paraphrasing), becuse its probably all of our faults. Ridiculous. I have a case # but they are adament that their part is done.

Hello Steve,

We're Kenny & Connie and have just sent you an email as we are having these same paint issues (peeling paint on top of liftgate) on our 2008 Pearl White Suzuki XL-7. We have finally finished the 'review process' with Suzuki and they aren't going to do anything about it.

Perhaps we should see about filing a class action lawsuit? Or since they are fixing some but not others, perhaps a discrimination lawsuit?

Looking forward to talking with you more about this issue! K&C

We are scheduled to get our tailgate repainted on Feb. 13th and Suzuki is paying 75% of the bill. I am very sorry to hear your Suzuki dealer will not fix the problem. It is looking more and more like a factory defect that if we could get enoough people to complain on this it would be taken care of 100%. It is no coinceidence that these models with pearl white are peeling in the same exact spot at the same exact time.

We plan on getting rid of it after the paint job because i am sure it will start to peel else where and will cost a fortune to fix. We will keep it if Suzuki makes it right by fixing the underlying problem.

Hi Cwaterboy,
Thanks for your reply! Very frustrated at this point. Spoke to our attorney today and starting the process for him to send a demand letter.

The dealership that is helping you... is it the same dealership that you purchased your XL7 from?

The one we bought ours from went out of business within the first year after we bought it and since then we've had to deal with the only Suzuki dealer in our area, Big Red Sports & Imports, which is a sorry excuse for a dealership. They obviously don't care whether they keep our business or not, so we won't be dealing with them any longer.

So... here we are, all in the same boat and from the sounds of it, there are more of us than just the ones posting here. In talking with my dad about this, he had some questions and suggestions.

Obviously there is a connection between all of us since we are all having the same issue at the same time... this can't be a coincidence.

So the first question is, what part of the US do you live in?
We live in Oklahoma City OK

Has anyone filed a complaint with their Better Business Bureau?

Have you talked to any news media?

Filed a complaint with any Consumer oriented agency?

My dad thinks if we make enough noise, we will be heard! I'm certainly willing to give it a shot!
