we just got our xl7, but I recognize the tpms as similar to mercedes( I'm familiar with that one more, but am pretty sure this works the same). your sensors are in effect small transmitters that are sending a signal to a receiver mounted in the wheel arch. they have an i.d. signal, that's how they know their location and also transmit their info. try relearning the sensors via your center console button, scroll through until you get the checkmark for sensor location? relearn? and press the check mark. it takes a few minutes and you might have to drive a bit until all signals get acquired. a few other things to remember, the tire valve caps should be plastic, metal ones distort the signal, also if you have had tires mounted ,the transmitters(that are mounted in side the rim) may get damaged during removal or more likely during installation-they crack and then fall loose. also, transmitter batteries have a life expectancy, they may be depleted. the dealer can check this if they have a r/f signal checker-it gives the unit i.d.#,pressure,battery life remaining.any of the above could be a likely problem, the transmitters/tire valves are probably not cheap, but all these should be checked first before you start condeming the control module.

I agree with robbiek. The manual has specific instructions for relearning the sensors. Do all that first before taking it to the dealer to save yourself some time. If that does not work then get it to the dealer as soon as possible.
