Default What Fluid goes in the Transfer Case?

Is it the VERSATRAK® Fluid (GM Part No. U.S. 12378514, in Canada 88901045) or the SAE 75W-90 Synthetic Axle Lubricant (GM Part No. U.S. 89021677, in Canada 89021678) meeting GM Specification 9986115?

I got this from the manual of a 2009 Chevy Equinox. The 2007 XL7 manual has absolutely no information on what type of fluid goes in the transfer case.

The Versatrak goes on the 3.4L engine with the 5 speed auto and the 75W-90 goes on the 3.6L with the 6 speed auto.

The XL7 has the 3.6L with the 5 speed auto so it could be any.

I called Suzuki customer service and they are trying to find this out.

Suzuki CS didn't even know that although the manual makes reference to the recommended fluid section, there is no mention of what fluid goes in the power steering, rear diff or transfer case.

Default

I received a call from Suzuki CS in California with an answer.

For the power steering fluid- GM89021184 (there is no substitute)

Transfer case - 75W-90 GL-4

Rear Differential - 80W-90 GL5 Hypoid

I think I will use Royal Purple 75W-90 for everything.

Thank God we don't have to use the Versatrak stuff!

Default I did it

The XL7 has less than 25k miles.

Yesterday I bought three quarts of Royal Purple 75W90 GL-5 and changed the rear differential and transfer case oil (you will need less than two for everything).

I took pictures but it looks exactly as depicted on the owners manual.

The hardest part was getting the oil in the diff and transfer case but I knew that and got a little 1.5 feet clear hose to pump it in.

To open the plugs you will need an 8mm hex key.

The capacity of the rear differential is less than a quart and the transfer case takes about one quart. Again buying two will be enough.

If I had to choose between just doing one, the rear diff was way dirtier than the transfer case, the plug magnet had much more metal than the one in the transfer case.

If someone has more info on this or believes I did something wrong, please comment.
