Default Adding In-Dash GPS

Good Day,

I just bought an 08 XL7 - Luxury w/ 13K for 18K, I think I got a good deal as it is spotless inside and out. I am looking at adding an aftermarket in-dash GPS such as the Pioneer AVICF700BT or maybe the Suzuki one if I can get one. Does anyone have any suggestions? Has anyone done this?

I would also like to add Fog Lamps (don't know why a luxury model would not have them). Is this a do-it-yourself project? I am moderately mechanically inclined.

Does anyone have any suggestions / advise to offer me as a new owner? Lessons learned etc?

This forum looks great and I look forward to participating more as time goes by.

Cheers,,,

Hello new XL-7 Driver..
Ok, I have 08 with a AVIC Z2 and BU Camera.
I still have the info of what is needed. I Even found where to get the Vss signal but I think the newer adapters now have that signal.
Remember when you look for the adapters, you need it with-out ON-Star and Amp.

Now there is a Look Alike GPS / GM radio out there and I will paste it after. It looks and smells like a GM, but it is not.
With the AVIC Z2/Z3 you have a Hard Drive for music.. So you just load it up with CD's.. Newer radios have SD cards and all.
Check out AVIC411.com for more info on Pioneer stuff.. I'm a member there..

Thumbs up Thanks for the Info

Thanks Old, I appreciate the time. I will check out that link and do some research on your post. Do you have any idea on cost of install etc? Is something a moderately skilled guy could do himself or is it best left to the professionals?

Cheers...

I had a guy do it.. The 07 Outlander I had I did myself. The difference is that the wiring harness was intact on the outie where as, the XL-7 was limited to wiring.
Putting in the radio is one thing, the adapters are another..
1 for steering wheel controls
1 for interfacing the CAN to the radio (helps keeping Chimes too.
Stuff like that

Here is the clone.. on Ebay
SUZUKI XL7 07-08 FACTORY RADIO GPS NAV CD DVD PLAYER - eBay (item 130311796762 end time Jul-09-09 15:41:04 PDT)

When you use a generic, you loose a few things like who has the maps and if they get updated.. and like I want to watch my DVD while coasting
Illegal..
But you get my drift I hope..

Ok, later
