I hope you guys aren't running wiring through the side vent. First you are opening up your vehicle to carbon monoxide getting in while idling and low speeds. Also, your interior will be full of dust if you frequnet dirt roads or gravel roads.

What?! I have had the hitch wiring running though the exhaust vent for almost two years without a single problem, including dust and we do travel down a dirt road at least twice a week.

The opening is IN FRONT of the exhaust outlets and the flat wiring covers an area of maybe 1/4 of a square inch lifting the flap on the sides of the wiring only leaving an opening of probably 1/16 of a square inch.

No vehicle is 100% sealed from the enviroment, there is absolutely no way you could be breathing more carbon monoxide at idle from your own vehicle than from the one in front of you.

The cabin filter only filters polen and particles alike, not carbon monoxide.
