Default 08 XL7 standard stereo

First post here. I've got my base model with standard single CD player. I want to change to a DVD double DIN Kenwood DDX512 receiver, but I dont know how to extract the standard stereo it came with. I'm also installing 2 12" subs and kenwood excelon KAC-X20 amp. I dont know how to install the harness, GMOS-LAN-01.

Ya'lls help is greatly appreciated.

Here is the stereo images:

I have a Pioneer AVIC-Z2 in my XL7..

Basically, removing is not to hard..
But it has been a year.. I will look to see if info..
I know you can pull the frame that surrounds the radio, but you might be easier doing the long way.
Remove the shift top.
Pull housing up.. Wait, I might have the webpage somewhere that shows all this.

I will look and post

Thanks a lot papa. That was a great help in my discovery of how to extract that stereo. Now I know too that I can change out the plain black panels for woodgrain, if I can find an accessories manufacturer.

I purchased the mastersheets from crutchfield. Rookie move I'm sure, but I can't deny the obvious. I'll happily be installing the system this week, and update this forum when its complete.

Thanks so much, wisdom is priceless.

I understand what that does, but not how it achieves it. Please inform me.

VSS is a Speed pulse to help the GPS, but most GPS will work fine without it. It helps accuracy while driving. I did post that info on AVIC forums for the Radio I have Avic-z2.
I will get the link and you can follow it if you like.
I think the newer interface adapters will sub the missing signal,..
These adapters keep the chimes and power features.
Remember that the XL7 is a GM product and GM have On-Star. If you ad Bluetooth, you need the adapter with-out On-Star feature.

ok, are you saying that the adapter im getting will control the vss or no? and how do i find the one without on-star. The crutchfield guys were insistent that this was the right adapter. Oldpapa ur the best. I cant thank you enough for your help.

The last thing my wife and I need is to be rollin down the street not knowing how fast were going....

This is what the installer at the audio shop says I need.

GMOS-LAN-01: not in stock but about 110 bucks.
95-3305 Dash mount: not in stock but about 20 bucks.
40-CR10 Antenna adapter: $29
KNA-G510 for navigation: $600
KCA-BT200 for bluetooth: $250

I wont be buying the nav and bluetooth from them because they charge triple what i can get from buy.com. but install of everything is 250, so i'll buy and let him install the basics, and tack on the tooth and nav later from 1/3 the price.
