Default XL-7 Amp Install

I just got my 08' XL-7 yesterday. I have been trolling the forum all morning. The group here has a wealth of knowledge that I'm sure will be a wonderful resource down the road (I have already ordered the hitch/harness suggested in other posts). I do have one question: Has anyone here installed an amp in an 07-08 XL-7? There seems to be no place for one that will allow for the flat surface the seats provide when folded down (ie: under seats etc..). I figured a few of you have run into this already. I am leaving the factory receiver (adding LC6i output converter) and just adding a 13" x 9" Kenwood amp with a single 10" P2. Any input would be much appreciated.

I would try the spot where the factory amp is installed, behind the rear pasenger side panel in the cargo area. It would have to go upright, and some kind of harness would have to be deviced in order to attach the amp. The amp itself cant be to big. Anyways, its a long shot, but I think it can be done, because suzuki managed to cram in there a 8 inch sub box and the amp.

I was shipped a defective output converter- my amp does not have a line level input to wire from speaker leads. Going through the RMA process to get a replacement. I will hopefully have some sound by next week. I did peek into under the panel. Im only worried about airflow. It looks like the space is not an issue, but heat might be.

Yes, heat will probably be an issue, just get some 12volt fans and stick em to the amp.

I finished the amp install this weekend. I could not get it mounted behind the panel in the cargo bay so I decided to get the dremel out and mount the amp in the compartment with the headrest storage. I have kept an eye on it for the past few days and heat is not an issue in this location.

i have 2 boxes in mine. I mounted the amp to the back of one, which overlaps the other (the amp in almost 24" long). I made 2 boxes so i can move them around easier. i have the 3rd row down and them up against the 2nd row now. If i need to use one of the 3rd row seats i turn them sideways. if i need to use both 3rd row seats i put them behind the 3rd row. I'm on my 2nd line output converter and still not getting the sound i want. I just wish the factory deck had pre-amp outputs. then it would sound fine.

The boxes are about 1.35 cubic feet each with 3" dia x 4" deep ports I wanted to make them as big as i could without losing to much space. Next year i plan on putting in 12's or better 10's.

i can post more pics of them from different angles if anyone wants.
