Default Painted exposed muffler/exhaust on XL7

I hated seeing the exposed silver metallic muffler/exhaust on my XL7 from the rear (especially on the black and charcoal version). It was so noticeable that I decided to paint the visible parts with black matt heat resistant (up to 1000 degrees) spray paint. I covered everything that I did not want to accidentally paint and only lightly painted the sides that were actually visible from behind the vehicle. I like the results a whole lot more than before and now the muffler/exhaust are barely noticable at all. I do not know if this will affect the vehicle although I do not see how it would. I have been driving it for 1 week since then. This is not a recommendation so please do not attempt yourself. If anyone thinks it would present a problem please let me know.

I have been thinking about doing that since the first day I got it. All XL7 bumpers are black and the metalic finish of the exposed mufflers stand out like a sore thumb.

The Cadillack SRX has the mufflers painted black and I thought it would look like the XL7 with the mufflers painted.

Please post pics if you can.

After reading your postings I can't stand looking at the muffler's on my vehicle now. Could you please post some pictures. I'm almost certain I want to do this but would like to see the end result prior to doing so.

Its fine as long as you used a heat resistant paint... and you did!

I will post some pictures in the next couple days. My digital camera just broke -so I am going to get another one. So far I haven't had any issues with the paint and I am still happy I did it - I think's it's made a big difference in the look. The hardest part was cleaning the areas to paint yet overall it probably only took me 45 minutes. The paint was actually listed as stove paint (black matt) yet did list mufflers on the can. I will post pics soon. BTW I have a graphite metallic (charcoal) XL7.
