No you cant. I went thru some irregular grassy field just the other weekend and I bumped the chassis against the ground. I was just trying to park and was goin like 3 mph. So I wouldnt off road in it.

No, you should not take it any more off road than you would in a normal passeneger car. The 2007+ XL7 differs from the previous XL7 / Grand Vitara and Vitara in that it is based on a unit body chassis. The pre-1997 XL7 like the Grand Vitara and Vitara are body on frame and are off road capable.

Maybe no one has tried to modify them, its a shame and i hope the next XL7 to hit our shores is still 4wd

I think that the target market of the new XL7 is families that don't want a minivan but need to carry a bunch of people while being able maybe tow something mid size, therefore the DVD player and 7 seats, self leveling rear suspension, etc.

There are a lot of better options if you want to go off roading (GV, most Jeeps, 4wd pickup trucks, etc).

We bought ours to replace a 2wd Explorer that went offroading once and I had to be towed because I got stuck. Now with the XL7 we enjoy a nice fully optioned spacious highway cruiser with AWD that can tackle some snow and dirt. I have towed a motorcycle on a dirt road but I would hardly consider that offroading.
