Default Aftermarket Nav Add AVIC-D3

I thought I would share my latest mod to my XL7. I have installed AVIC D3 Nav DVD with Bluetooth, Sirius, Ipod and Rearview camera. The install wasnt bad, I was able to get everything needed from crutchfield. Attached is the list. I was able to retain facory steering wheel controls and safety chimes and the unit is by-passed. Fully functionable while driving. The install is easy about 4 Hours from opening all boxes. No splicing into factory wiring, only one tap connection for factory stering wheel controls.

Impresive, very interesting. Please post more pics of the dash and interior with the new radio and the camera installed. You installed it yourself? Can you post a scan of the intructions for the dash removal? How do you tapped into the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) and the reverse sensor for the camera, presuming it turns on when you put the XL7 in reverse.

Default VSS and Reverse

Yes, I did the Install myself. I will post more more pictures and scans soon. As for the VSS and the reverse it is very simple. The GMOS LAN 01 takes care of this for you so no searching for the wires just connect the leads from the AVIC to the GMOS and it plugs into the factory harness. As I said the only wire that you have to look for is the Steering wheel control wire that is located in the BCM behind the A/C controls and Connect the INTERFACE's Green wire to Pin 6 (Dk. Blue) of the connector using a tap connector supplied with PAC SWI-PS.

Very cool. I was just looking at that unit at crutchfield. Are you going to install any amps or extra monitors for the rear?

VERY NICE, question, did you keep the factory subwoofer in the back? or did you have to disable it?

I did not have the upgraded system with Sub and Amp. I had the single Cd unit. The main reason for changing out the unit was because of a liquid air freshner that leaked and melted the dash tim and face off the unit.
