Sunroof Not Working Properly

Today I opened my sunroof for the first time since last fall here in Canada, drove about 10 minutes down the road from work to get lunch and when I hit the switch to close the sunroof nothing happened. I kept flipping it back and forth hoping it would work, then pushed it really hard in a final attempt. Pushing really hard worked, but instead of shutting and stopping like it should do, it continued to open vertically. On trying to close it from being open vertically, it just continued opening laterally instead of stopping and sealing.

Has anyone ever had this issue before?

I have been regretting wasting money on the extended warranty since I have never had to use it, but am relieved at this point that I have it...

I experienced a similar problem after checking on the car's tires and battery after winter inactivity since it is the secondary car. The switch would not press to the 'close position' after it did press 'open'. After rocking the switch back and forth pressing harder to the 'close' position, the switch 'removed' the obstruction with a small click and was able to connect to close the moonroof. I don't know what was blocking the rocker switch from depressing to the close position but it is working now. It feels as if a piece of plastic or debris was keeping the switch from engaging the 'close' connection.
