Bad fuel economy?

So far I have the 2013 GV premium for a month, around 1,000 miles on the clock and the 2.4 engine averaged 14.4mpg! I was usually filling up with 87 octane, but on my last fuel up I tried switching to 93 octane, but that made no difference in fuel economy. This is mixed city and highway driving. The dealer is saying I should see an improvement in fuel economy after 3,000 miles once the engine is gone through full break in period. EPA specs are 19city / 23highway, and I'm pretty light footed.

Very happy with the rest of the truck, but poor fuel economy is a big disappointment!

Pretty normal results. Depending on where you are you might be getting "winter blend" gas, which is basically 15% ethanol. That junk has way less BTU's thus such low fuel economy. MY V6 GV only gets between 16-17 in town driving and if I am lucky 21 on the highway. And I have 37K miles on it. try switching to full synthetic oils when it is time to change oil. I have found that to help a little.

I would think the 2.4 should get better mileage than a V6, yet I'm averaging 14.4mpg. We do have winter blend, so that doesn't help, and I will switch to synthetic.
