Any advice? Yes - don't. Retrofit HIDs are illegal in Connecticut, as they are in all fifty states - don't take my word for it, check FMVSS108 (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 108)

In a nutshell, only DOT approved lights are legal, and the lights have to be approved for that vehicle - so - if it didn't come from the factory with an HID option, you can't legally fit HID lights to it.

Same in UK, to fit legally HID lights aftermarket the car has to have self levelling headlights and headlight washers. So folk do fit them but have to refit standard lights to get it through it's annual MOT safety test.

To avoid any confusion - FMVSS108 (the US federal standard) does not require self levelling headlamps or headlight washers, that is an EU (European Union) requirement, which the UK (United Kingdom) as a member of EU must adhere to, in the same manner as the US states are required to adhere to federal standards.

EU have their own lighting standards which are equivalent to the US DOT requirements, and HID conversions and retrofits are also not permitted there - adding auto levelers & headlight washers would not be sufficient to make the vehicle road legal - not in the US and not in the UK or Europe.

Most countries in the developed world have similar regulations forbidding the use of HID conversions & retrofits.

Yep, New Zealand allows it only if the entire headlight unit is updated.
