Default G'day from WA

Very nice. I've recently got the Prestige from one year prior. Hope yours brings as much fun as mine has already. Don't be afraid to get her dirty

Love my 2010 Prestige. Though you'll find if you decide to go off road seriously, the 18" alloys are a pain as there are no good (or maybe that should be NO) AT's to fit.

Apart from that, a great car

I'm in SA too.

Let the mods begin

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase. She looks in good nick. The best model they ever made IMHO (but then I'm biased). How many K's has it done?

I agree with the comment on the tyres. Far too easy to get the 18's scratched up and very little choice for AT rubber. Get some spare 17's or 16's to throw on when you go off-road.

It's done 31,000kms so she's still quite new!

Yeah i worry about the 18", i've been looking at some after market 16" to do some light off-roading. Still a noob.

I'll probably do some beaches first for some fishing trips. Normal road tyres should be ok right??

Depends on the entry and exit points off the beach. If they're flat then you've got no issues. Normally that's where the stock GV will get bogged because the belly will get caught on the sand. Stay out of the ruts and tracks left by higher clearance 4x4s and you should be right.

The other thing will be the plastic guard under the engine. First belly scrape along the sand and that thing will be history. It's next to useless anyway so if you're planning on heading to the beach I'd even advise taking it off if it's still fitted.

I've done the Coorong with my GV and a fair few other sand tracks.

Yes, a lift is handy and as DBO said, the plastic guard is useless (or missing after the first bit of sand).

As far as the tyres go, the Standard 18" HT's are great on the sand. Drop then down from the usual 35 PSI to 25 or even lower. I have had no issues getting stuck and as they are not rugged in tread, they do not "break up" the sand.

If you go down the lift kit/bash plate way, Troy at Tyrepower Mile End is great. He contacted Tim at ODA in QLD and got the bash plate kit and the lift kit and then fitted it all for me. 24 months interest free too! He fronted the price to Tim so i just did the repayments to GE Credit. Just tell him David with the white GV sent you.

And for the other bits ARB Morphett Vale if you are south of the city.

Cheers

Yeah I considered getting a lift kit but the problem is, currently it only just fits into my garage with just 2" roof clearance. If i get a lift kit, what are the most common height? It probably wont fit in after. Do i just buy springs or get both shocks and springs?

Ooh i love to do the Coorong with the GV.

OH i know Troy at TypePower. He's my goto guy for tyres. I'll give him a yell about the bash plates and other stuff.

Thanks for info.

Is it any good? I will have the oem nudge bar soon - would there be problems?

Not sure about the ironman bash kit, was not around when i did mine. Looks okay but I know ODA has slightly different kits for 2.4l, diesel and 3.2l so make sure from Ironman it's okay for the 3.2l V6. Troy is an Ironman distributor too.

My only concern about the nudge bar is that as it goes under the standard bumper bar to bolt on, you will actually lose more front on clearance in approach angle. I think it has some front bash plate built in but do not rely on me for that info as I have never had one or looked closely at one.

I went the 2" lift from ODA and have had no issues with it so far (apart from a stuffed front shock which Tim replaced and Troy refitted under warranty). I did shocks x 2, coil springs x 4, and struts x 2 in my lift, no spacers) I think Ironman do a 1 1/2" kit. I like my lift and my GV follows lifted patrols, cruisers, prados with no problems, especially with the front approach angle also improved by the ARB bar.

2013 mid year plan is Cape York and i have no worries that the car will make it.
