Default DIY LED Daytime Running Lights

Inspired by the new Audi LED running lights and the countless DIY insturctions for other cars, I decided to install LED running lights in my Grand Vitara:

Here are some pics:

Up Close:

I ran them along the bottom of the interior of the housing and then over the orange reflector, which gave them a nice curve.

UPDATE:
Some new pictures during the day which show them off a little better:

The pictures really do not do them justice. They look amazing!

The install was a little tricky but not too bad. I took my time since it was my first attempt at removing the bumper. To get inside the headlights, it required some baking in the over at 200 degrees, which was a little scary. (This was needed to melt the waterproof seal in between the headlights) To pry them open, it was still a two man job. They were stuck together quite well even with the baking! I disabled the normal daytime running lights and these LED's are run off of a switch installed next to the fog light switch.

Short Parts List:

I ordered the LED's from oznium.com
- Two 19in White LED strips
- Rocker switch with red LED

-Heatshrink to weatherproof the solder points
-Fuse Holder
-I used a 7.5 amp fuse
-Plenty of Wire

If there is enough interest, I may post more detailed instructions.

That looks amazing!!

I've thought about doing something similar for a while, just never gotten around to start doing it.

Do please post more details, and even more pics if you have some of the actual mod.

Fantastic!

Personally I don't care for the bling, but, I like to see a well executed project, and you've done an amazing job - now you need to finish it - connect the new DRLs so they come on when the igniton is on and the handbrake down - I wouldn't you to forget to switch them on.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the kind comments! I'm working on some instructions now and should be up in the next few days!

No Fear, go ahead and do this. I think the angel eyes would look awesome! (Little more like a BMW than Audi )

Here is a link that helped me a little and will probably help you a lot.

That is nice. I saw an Audi the other day and didn't like it but I like this a lot (especially how it curves). I really wish I could pull something like that off

Well done. It shows that you've taken your time in doing them as they sure look great. I've seen some real dodgy home built ribbon-LED add-ons and if they're not done properly they can look ultra crap.

I'd love to do something similar although the big thing that would worry me is baking the headlamp assembly to get them taken apart.

Has anyone tried the LED lights from these guys? Looks like a company in the Philippines.

They do look good, however they'd look even better if they had a halo around both high and low beam rather than just the low's. Anyway, the company call themselves Delapansatu. I've emailed them to see if we can get some further details about the headlights (I'll keep people posted). It's unclear to me whether they manufacture whole assemblies or if they just modify existing ones. I kind of get the impression it might be the latter since you don't see any other commercial entities marketing them.
