How do you have the average configured? Trip A, Manual reset? That could be your issue.

Although my 06 does not have the average function (only instantaneous), I would guess the long-term cumulative average reading would be stored in the BCM and would be lost when it was replaced. Perhaps this info is not transferable to the new BCM like the odometer reading is. Sounds like the part of the BCM that calculates average consumption is confused about the distance travelled and needs to be reset so it can start its calculation over from zero.

It may be worth to note that the average is NOT a rolling average. It will count km from first reset.

I always reset mine everytime I put on fuel, to get an accurate reading.

When you press the step button, you can choose between nothing-instantaneous consumption-average consumption.

When in average mode, press and hold the button for more than 2 seconds, then it will reset.

When reset, it will stay at - - - until a valid recording is made. This is usually a km or more.

The average is not in relation to any other odometer reading, but, you can reset fx counter A or B to follow the average.

It's all in the manual...

Dear DKGuffe
Thank you for your description and thanks from this forum to have such active and responsible member.
Yes you are true,
but the problem is that I did it all before, and I reset it be holding the key and also by disconnecting the batteries for 10 min, but the average doesn't work.
I wounder that the intermittent readout works properly, but it is not in mood to calculate it for average consumption.
this function used to works properly before I change the BCM.
do you think that this function has to be programmed by DIAG?

regards,

Where did you get your new BCM from ?

Could it be that the "new" one doesnt have support for avg ?

How much did you drive since you replaced it ?

Why did you replace it ?

Did you try to reset the average, even though it does not show anything ?
Not knowing how it works, but having a general understanding of software, I was thinking about that maybe it needs to be reset, since its a brand new unit.

Maybe try to contact Suzuki, and ask if there is any specific things to do in case the unit is replaced.

You are really good friend guy
It is about 4 months,
When I was changing the dome light lamp, i short the connectors suddenly and i heard a click from that below. I checked the fuses but that was ok, and after that I realized that dome light soft shot down and front fog light doesn't work. in that days the average was ok.
After that I changed the BCM, the mentioned problem solved but a new problem appeared.
The Suzuki repair shop does not anything about it and they say you have to leave your car for 10 day our work shop yard until we find the problem.
Do you know if SUZUKI has any online or e-mail specialist for this kind of problem who responses to a customer?
