Just got my brand new 2.4L 2009 GV about three weeks ago. While offroading, I got stuck on a little bump, with my right front wheel in the air. Tried to back off, and then the ! (exclamation mark), 4WD and ESP lights lit on the display, and the engine stopped. The on-board computer states that the 4wd system and the ESP need servicing. The engine wouldn't ever start egain.
The DTC's we got from the on-board computer are U0100, U0101 and U0144. There are no Suzuki dealers or authorized services where I live (or closer than 4,000 miles away from the place where I live), and I can't even get access to the online GV 2009 service manual because suzukipitstop.com for some reason would not accept my credit card. An experienced mechanic/car electrician checked the car and fornd no problems with the transfer case, no damaged fuses etc., but, for some reason, the BCM is not supplying power to half of the vehicle's sustems (including the fuel pump, the transfer case and the ESP system).
Is there any way we can make the car start again and revert the electronic control systme to its original state? Maybe there's a sequence that reboots the control system abd restores all the connections? Please help, as getting the car to a Suzuki service center is hardly an option for me (the transportation cost would be at least $3000 each way).
You can re-boot the ECU by disconnecting the battery for a moment. It's easy and MIGHT do the trick. You have nothing to lose.
Those transportation costs mentioned are ridiculous. If nothing else, rent a tow dolly and drag her in to the nearest dealer or authorized Suzuki repair facility for warranty work.

Thanks, Max, but I tried that several times - so far, to no effect. The mechanic/electrician who is looking into the problem just disconnected the battery altogether tonight before leaving the shop - we'll take a look at the ECU in the morning and see if a 10-hour disconnect is gonna do the trick.
Nope, there was some mud on the road, but it wasn't really wet. As I said, the system failed when I tried to back off, but I was not even in the mud at that moment.
I still hope the BCM can be rebooted or something; otherwise, 'll have to get a replacement which will probably set me back at least two or three grand and will take months to deliver to the place where I live (Sakhalin Island). Yes, we're just north of Japan, but all the parts for the Russian marked are shipped from Japan to Finland then to Moscow then to wherever the part is needed. They call it optimized logistics...
The codes u0100,0101 are loss communication with ecm and tcm with esp (can bus). The code u0144 is for the bcm comm loss. Need to check the power and ground circuits. if it all checks out you might need to replace the BCM. also have seen and replace the abs/esp control module for like problems. Also the code u0144 could be loss comm with keyless start. there are some pics of the flow chart for bcm.
Thanks a lot for the good advice and for the charts. I'll show them to the mechanic/electrician tomorrow; maybe he'll be able to figure out what is whrong with the vehicle. If the BCM or any other control module is faulty, I'll have to figure our a way to get the replacement cost covered by the seller (after all, I payed the MSRP for the car, and that's supposed to include some kind of warranty coverage).
I'm sorry to hear about your troubles, I hope it works out. I will say, I never had an excuse to look up Sakhalin Island before. Any good websites you know of to learn more?
Thanks to everyone to your support. I finally got the car fixed. It was my stupidity in the first place - I should have switched it to 4H Lock or 4L Lock before attempting to tackle rough terrain. Since it was in 4H, 4WD got disengaged when I tried to back out, and then the fuel pump fuse got blown too (that's why I couldn't start the car).
Guys at the first repair shop I took my car to couldn't even figure out which fuse was blown, let alone diagnose the 4WD disengagement problem. Fortunately, the guys at the other shop turned out to be much more professional and diagnosed the proble correctly. Now I have to learn when to switch my transfer case to 4H Lock or 4L Lock modes to avoid getting in this kind of trouble in the future.
