How do you like that?

Just got this picture from 4apa (suzukovod.ru).

I have no idea how this guy managed to fit those tires. He must've cut everything under the front fender and bumper. And the rear control arm must be longer or something.

I wish the owner of this Suzuki was reading the forum and could give us some details.

Taras - when you fitted your new tires, what was your original size??
Also did they put the new tires on your existing suzuki rims??
And finally, I know I've seen you say it in another thread, but do they rub when your on full lock and when flexing off road?? ah... also how far out is your speedo now?
Thanks Paul. - Australia

Hi Paul,

The original Suzuki wheel diam. is 28.5" - 225-70-R16. My new tires 255-70-R16 on the original 16x6.5 rims. This is the maximum you can fit on stock rims.

With the lift kit - no rubbing neither on the road nor off road.
With the stock suspension - no rubbing on the road, and I haven't actually tried them off road, but I'm 90% confident they wouldn't rub.

Speedo - different tire calculators give different numbers - some say 4%, some say 6% underestimate. I still drive the same speeds I used to drive on original tires :D

I'm trying to fit the 16x8 +10 offset rims now - to have wider track and nicer rims, but I'd have to trim my bumper for that. See the pictures, that what I want.

Cool, is that guy in Singapore??
Thanks for that.
My original Bridgestone Dueler H/Ts are really looking on the edge of legality at the moment with 20,000Km only on them, I looked at the spare yesterday and theres a big difference in the amount of tread remaining - time to get some A/t's been looking at the Dueler D694's anyone road tested them - not as chunky as a coopers discoverer but a good starting tyre for me at the moment (with warrenty not even 2 years old yet heheh)

I'm trying to get in touch with that guy and ask him some details about his tire/rim sizes.

Regarding tires, I think it a matter of personal preference. There are so many good brands out there that its hard to find the best. I used to have BFgoodrich and Yokohamas, I like both of them. Now I have Nokians, proved to be the best this winter! Never actually tried Bridgestones.

Here is a picture of my GV with 16x8 rims with +25mm offset. Tires are Toyo Open Country 255-65-16. Next tires are 265-70-16 with 16x8 rims with +5mm offset View attachment 5608
Nice!!! You are the 2nd Canadian I know to have lifted GV.

I wanna fit 16x8 +10 offset with 255-70-16(my current tires) If its not gonna work I'll get your size of tires! That should work.

Nice job man!

PS: Any rubbing? Any space left for bigger tires?

I guess you don't have fuel consumption issues with this size.

With my setup consumption is a kinda noticeable on the long distances.

But anyway, I'm happy with my lift and tires. This winter I did just what's on your avatar :D

My dad drove to Detroit this weekend, he wasn't happy with Suzuki's fuel consumption.

But what's most interesting, is that one of the front fender liner pins got lost and the liner was rubbing against the tire for an entire trip. So the tire basicaly shaved the liner down :), so now I have no liner. This is like another reason for me to get offset rims and cut the bumper :D

PS What kind of rims do you have? I've never seen 16x8 +25 rims

CMS Wheels

Some pics of my GV with CMS C9 wheels and 255/70/16 Hercules tires.
I'm very satisfied with these tires, price was reasonable and they are not making
noise witch is important with this car.
I'm waiting for my RR lift kit to be delivered. It's ordered and paid 1 month ago and still waiting... How about others in Europe how long it took to get them?

Nice Zuki, Vesakko! Nice colour and it's Diesel!!!

How's diesel engine turning those tires? Any negative performance side effects?

I wish we had diesel in North America.

What country in Europe are you from?

Welcome to Bigfoot Grand Vitara Club! :D

Antlerboy, I like those wheels too, they would look good on your truck! I like Ultra Type 175, black.

Could you, please, post or send me a close up picture of your wheels? Or at least the picture from your avatar?

Taras,
I think these tires fits very well with diesel engine because gear ratios are too high for diesel engine and this is the easiest way to get engine rpm down. Now I have approx.2800rpm when driving 120km/h(max. speed here in Finland) With original tires it's over 3000rpm.->6th gear would be very good... My golleaque has RAV4 with 136hp diesel and He's consumption is 6,5L/100km and mine is 7,6 - 8l/100km, I think there would be no difference if Suzuki had 6th gear also.
I think that performance with these tires is at least the same or even better compared to original tires.

And the main point. When we drive our cars side by side Toyota looks like barbie car compared to Vitara (My opinion :) )

Support that, but wait until you get the lift kit, buddy - that what makes a huge difference.

I like to park side by side with CRVs and Rav4s - you gotta see that :D

I did not realize that there was so much of a difference with the lift kit until i saw those pics from Taras. The GV looks like a beast compared to the others.
My dad has a Rav4 but the GV looks looks a lot chunkier when they're sitting beside each other,i think he would crack up if i got a lift kit fitted as competiton between us is very high.:D
Thanks for sharing those pictures Taras, they're great!

hi guys and dolls,

heard from taras that you are wondering about the lift done by the white GV from singapore.
we are both on the same setup and we are running 15" rims. As ours are 2.0L, the 15" rims do make a difference in weight as we are running 31"MT tires. Was on 32" when on 16" rims, but the car cant seem to power the tires offroad.

am on 3" susp lift, and the other is 3.5" lift.
at 3.5", on certain trails, the selectable low gears may not be achieved, prob due to length of rod.

yes, it will rub your fenders and we have also cut our front bumper to accommodate.

Hope this info helps! Have attached a pic so u can see how much we cut.
FYI, no matter how we mod it, the low ratio of this GV is still not good enough for mod offroad terrain.. it has morphed into a city car..
