Default How often you go for oil change.

I hit the 6000 miles mark and decided that the oil needs to be changed even tough Suzuki says 7500 under normal conditions. I choose regular 5W-30 and was debating should I use synthetic...

Now I wounder if I need to change the differential fluid at 7500 or not. The owner manual is not very clear.

you must change the diff oils, as the factory puts in a break-in oil that won't last. As for the enigne oil, I do mine every 3 or 4 months (I put on very little mileage as this equates to about 3000km). You should read carefully the manual, depending where in Oregon you are, you may fall into "severe" use during the winter

like Paul says, its VERY important to change diff fluids at 7500 miles. Engine oil change at 3000 miles for me..

I consider the 2006 GV one of the worst vehicles to change oil on - I do it myself - so I have switched to 5,000 miles and I use QS synthetic. On most vehicles I change it every 3,000 to 4,000 miles and uuse regular oil.

The filter is hard to get to and the oil wanting to squirt forward are unnecessary issues to deal with. My wife's filter is also hard to get to but at least the drain plug is on the bottom. My daughters car is the best, oil out the bottom and filter accessable on the front of the motor.

Long way of saying that for me which oil and how often are related and depends on how easy it is to do. I just checked Sythentic oil pricing last night at Wal mart and 5 quart containers of QS synthetic were $20 versus $12 for regular - not that great a difference (but probably also small difference in functionality too).

The guy at Valvoline that did the oil change complained about the filter location to be one of the worst. They tried to offer synthetic but I knew that there is no real benefit if the oil get changed every 3000 - 5000 miles. I'll definitely use 80W-90synthetic for the differential.

Oh! How often do those get changed?

Conventional 5W-30 for me at 3-4 K intervals (211K no probs as yet!). I'd consider syn IF I was going to keep her and on a new vehicle, RC.

my GV does short trips so i change the oil every 5k miles with synthetic. You can often get it at advance auto parts for less than $3/qt when its on sale buy1get1. August it was Valvaline Synpower and before that it was pennzoil platinum.

We change ours on the maintenance schedule. Normal oil. I doubt anyone participating in this forum will need to do engine repairs due to wear.

Thumbs up

Change mine every 7500 miles, I've been using Mobil1 5w30 full synth.

Sent the 1st M1 sample (7500 miles to 15000) off the Blackstone Labs for analysis, came back great..... (this was the 1st oil change).

I think 3000 miles oil change is a waste of money. There is a reason why Suzuki (and other car manufacturers) set it for 7500 under normal conditions.
