Has anyone figured out how to access the back of the stereo on the 07 GV???

I got the dealer to install the Clarion unit and I have to say that I am not impress with its capabilities. I do not suggest this unit to anyone.

I would like to install Tim's cable myself but I am unsure on where to start. I cant seem to find how to unlatch the silver trims on the centre console.

Please help,

newGVowner

If you open the small cubby under the heater controls you will see a small gap between the console and the silver trim.
You can place a small screw driver into the gap there to lift the trim with out having to worry about damaging the surface.
Slowly remove the trim from the bottom to the top..

Cheers,

Tim

thanks for the info Tim, I will give it a try when I get some time off.

Out of curiosity, with that Clarion box currently installed in my GV, where do you suppose the box is located. If I am planning on putting in that wire in, will it be in a place where I wont be able to reach?

thanks again,

The Clarion iPod interface is usually just tie wrapped behind the stereo some where.

If you pop your glovebox down (just pop the damper off the right side and squeeze the sides together), you should be able to see the control unit. Just follow the docking cable back to it.

Cheers,

Tim

Default 2007 Grand Vitara Aux Input Pinouts

Thanks to Griff, figured the pin outs for the 2007 GV.
1. GV 2007, Japanese import into India
2. Unit model details
3. Connector used (X86 motherboard to the front panel USB port connector for any desktop)
4. Success Contraption
5. Note - No LOW MED HIGH in this unit.
6. And the pin out details.
Resistor between the 2 trigger pins is 1.5k as suggested by Griff. Make sure your Connector is sitting properly on the Pins - I ended up wasting a whole day because one of the two rows of the connectors were not inserted on the pins! Does anyone know if someone makes an exact female connector for this port?

Hi onglipo,

Many thanks to you (and Griff) for the how-to AUX conversion feature on the GV's head unit.

How did you connect the MP3 or iPod to the head unit, and how was the sound quality with the conversion?

Cheers,

GV real SUV

Thumbs up

It was my pleasure to help out! Ongs went the extra mile to figure out which pins were which, and the PC CD/DVD audio pin connector that fits was a GREAT find!

I'll have a HowTo up using Ongs info on the gvoc in a few days hopefully.

Now you 2007 guys can make your own and save some money!

Griff,
Feel free to use any of the info from my website - the phots were too big to upload to your site...
And GV Real SUV: Sound quality is great. I directly connect the ipod audio out to the AUX connector I made.
Cheers

Hello onglipo,

Many thanks for your reply, I will study very carefully what both you and Griff have done so that the sound technician can make the same set-up for my GV!

More power to you and Griff for the tips!

Cheers,

GV real SUV
