Hello guys.
My new car is being displayed at an intro show here in Denmark for the Swift GLX, so won't have mine untill the 27th, but apart from some of the small goodies I ordered with it, the mechanic team at the dealer is working on finding a solution for adding my 5g iPod in.
Right now the idea is to fit the Ice>Link Plus for the Panasonic HU's on it, and then instead of using a craddle to the iPod, just use a cable.
I'll throw a note here if it works, in case somebody should be interested.
I'll also add a guide, if the mechanics have to do some.. "rewiring"... Fortunately they're very skilled people, so chances are they'll make it work

Elf,

As stated in one of my original posts, the ice>link is highly unlikely to work, as the PACR01 is (supposedly) based on a Vauxhall design. Dension have not managed to get the Ice>Link to work with this radio... but if you do get it working, may I buy you a virtual beverage in honour of your greatness!

My current plan is to visit my local UK Suzuki garage, get them to order the Swift replacement dash-insert (the one listed and shown in the picture on Page 1 is DEFINITELY for the Swift, as it has all the same holes in the right places!), and then plug my Kenwood into the bottom DN slot. In the top slot, I have located a very nice 7" touch-screen built into a DVD player which would fit the car beautifully.

Well, I can dream... :-)

Hmmm, unless the signal types differ, I don't think it's gonna be a problem... I'll leave the experts to it, and hope I can get them to take a picture or something of the rewiring. Then I'll DEFINITELY post it
Just sent "the experts" a not so short mail about it, lets see what we get out of it.
My car won't be done before the 30th this month So long time till I'll see my new baby
But that should also be the date where I should know if it was possible to do the "porting"...

Ok, the wiring is impossible, because the signal type IS different.
BUT! Densions is coming with a new product in a few weeks, FOR THE SWIFT! Yay!
I hav eto pay 1999kr for it, which is $314 with installation and all, just so you guys have an idea about the price

Where did you hear that Dension are releasing a new one? From your garage? Dension are still telling me 'no chance'. Is this a Dension ice>link of some type? (not the FM, obviously!)

I only know it's a new product from Dension. My dealer/garage called them today and asked, and they said that there was no chance you would fit the Swift with their ice>Link Plus for Panasonic, but they could deliver a product in a few weeks which would give complete integration between swift and iPod.
I guess it's unofficial, and only betwin the pro's or some weird stuff like that. Maybe they called the danish importer of Dension, and they got some insider info, but anyway, it should come out very soon.
I'll give you some feedback the 30th, and when I get a call from the dealer about if the "integration was successful" I'll see if he can give me some info on the product, or maybe just a name. That is gonna be in next week. I can't promise anything though, but I'll try

Until a proper iPod adaptor is released, I've modified my FM transmitter setup:

Using this hack to modify my Belkin Tunecast II, I had the newly-extended antenna in numeous parts of the cabin, but the sound would always change between 'not enough treble' and 'this is more like AM' modes.

Failing to find anything resembling a workshop manual for the swift, I shoved my camera behind the glovebox to try to work out where everything was.

I found one cluster of wires and a socket (for a CD stacker?) coming out of the bottom section (that is, not the CD player, but where the volume and display are). See Image.

Tied the aerial of the Tunecast around the cluster and I'm enjoying clear (albeit not strongly amplified) sound out of the iPod.

Rough, but it works for me.

OMG what a hack!
Well the panasonic version of the ice>Link Plus allows you to get the sound over AFAIK, but that's it. Also with a bit of hacking.
