Thanks for the link. My doors lock on their own and that's it. The lock buttons only unlock, it's not a toggle anymore. If I need to lock my doors, I either have to do it manually, one door at a time, or just wait for my truck to lock my doors on their own. Usually happens 30 seconds after I get out of my truck, so I have to make sure I have my keys. My locks were working fine a week ago.

Ok, same issue as me then, i can only unlock not lock too.

So if want fixed will need the new switch panel.

I think i need to get one quick as he only has a few left.

Hi guys, the same situation is happening to my 2005 grand vitara AFTER I replaced the passenger lock switch yesterday (the switch I'm talking about is the one located on the door jam that tells the computer the door is open/close). The reason I replaced the lock switch was because every time I closed the passenger door, the open door indicator light on the panel stayed on. Well, I repaired the lock switch but now the doors are locking automatically.

Just the other day while working in my carport I hear the distant sound of doors being locked.... I walk over to my XL-7 and sure enough... clunk.... clunk... clunk clunk clunk

These sorts of gremlins can be a pain but for now I thought I would pass on my fix (or at least I think it is the fix.... for now?).

Check your back door lock switch. Like the passenger side door, this switch is capable of sending a "lock" command to the controller. Its the least hassle to check, just pop the back door panel and peal back some plastic. If the event is taking place while your looking at the switch, just unplug it and see if its the source of the problem.

You can pull the switch assembly off of the lock and it can be pulled apart. In my case it was corroded and a bit of a mess. I was able to clean it up and for now (knock on wood), the problem was solved.

Cheers

Martin

Somehow I suspect you guys are discussing different switches - GV2005 is speaking about the courtesy light switch (notice he says, the one located on the door jamb, and the open door indicator on the panel stayed on - that switch does not send any lock/unlock commands) towforce on the other hand is describing the switch on the lock itself, which does send a signal, when operated with the key.

fordem, I was just adding to the thread titled "Doors Locking on their own"...

mind you I believe the door post switch that your talking about does interact with the lock system?...

When the doors are closed and you remotely un-lock them using the key fob but you do not actually open the doors, the doors will re-lock?

If the door is "unlocked" with the key fob and the door is then opened, and the switch is working, the re-locking of the door is cancelled.

So both switches sort of have something to do with locking the doors

(of course doors locking on their own could simply be chalked up to electrical Gremlins)

What year are we discussing?

The door ajar switches don't interact with the power locks, they do however interact with the keyless system (if fitted), exactly as you describe, and the keyless entry system is what relocks the doors.

Power locks I believe were standard, keyless entry was optional.

It will happen in our 2004 model if the door light switches don't make contact when the door is opened. I clean them every 12mths or so because it's happened a few times on ours (very annoying when you've got an alarm installed- it rearms itself.....)

fordem, sorry.... I assumed the thread related to key-less entry.

Interesting point about the power lock without a key-less system. The key fob receiver is a an add on module, plugged into to the "BCM". The interesting twist is the door switch goes through the "BCM"... but... the key-less receiver is wired to the dome light and the "BCM". My bet the receiver is where the courtesy auto lock command comes from (probably gets a door status signal from the BCM, or dome lamp?).

Now... if you don't have a key-less entry and power door locks, and your experiencing doors locking on their own... you better get yourself an Exorcist

Cheers
