Default For Auto Insurance purposes is the XL-7 the same as the Vitara?t

I'm trying to get full coverage auto insurance as cheap as possible and the agent tells me when the VIN is entered, it shows my 2003 XL-7 as a Grand Vitara. How can that be true?

I'm assuming insurance on the XL-7 would be a bit cheaper than the Grand Vitara, but the agent is insisting it comes up this way.

Anyone ever heard of this?

Thanks guys.

It might depend on where you are - I'm outside of the US and it makes no difference - both would be classified as an SUV.

I'm curious though - why would you think insurance on an XL-7 would be cheaper than a Grand Vitara - the XL-7 is a larger, more expensive vehicle, with a bigger engine - around here that would push the price up.

In Australia the full name is "Grand Vitara XL-7" - so that might be why the insurance company data says "Grand Vitara"; they've just forgotten the last bit!

Depends on the company. Allstate has mine as a 2002 Suzuki XL-7. It comes up by the VIN.

STORMCHASERXL-7 are you in the USA?

Do you think insurance would be cheaper if my 2003 XL-7 were used instead of a 2003 Grand Vitara? The insurance is costing $605 every six months........I'd like to try to get that price down a bit.

Wow, I am not paying anywhere near that much for my XL7 in Kansas. Mine is more like $250 for the truck alone. I do have a few discounts on my account, so I am not sure how that compares with your cost.

REgards,

Ivan, stormchaserxl-7

Wow, great rate Ivan.

Do you have "full" coverage including comprehensive and collision? If so I'd like to be living in Kansas. Are you with a national company or a small local company?
