Assuming you released the charge to replace a component OR the freon has been depleted from a leak (that you need to fix first) you'll require refrigeration gauges at a minimum and to evacuate the system of air & moisture if the freon charge is completely lost. Replacing the dryer should be on your list too if the system has been, or WILL be opened for any length of time.
Please take no offense, but if you can't at least locate the charging connections without the manual, then you should probably take the vehicle to the local A/C shop for repairs. Tools and expertise in that area should be left to the pro's or highly technically capable do it your selfer's. If you get it wrong, you can do some very expensive damage to the compressor.

I always find it funny how you guys in the USA can just buy the gas and do what you want. Over here you can't do that and all the gas is supposed to be evacuated and recycled.
Yeah. We can buy 134A at just about ANY store, including Walmarts and such. Reclaiming is suppose to happen as well, but few have the equipment or want to pay to have it professionally done.
I only wish that I had bought a tractor trailer load of R-12 back in the 70's at $.99 a 14 oz. can. I'd be RICH today! Last checked, it was around $30.00 a lb and only licensed reefer guys can get it.
My classic car buddies would be envious as well.

$700 bucks for a 30 lb jug plus freight and tax. That's a better deal if you need and can afford. Freight may be pretty high on a compressed gas though.
I did max. About 14 years ago I bought a skid of 30 lb containers of R12 and stored it at work. Someone broke into where I kept and stole every last one about 8 years ago lol

FYI, the low side fitting is behind the grill of my 2001 XL-7. I have to remove the grill to get to it. Don't over-charge or it will lock up the compressor.
