Default Need Help - Throwing P0456 code.

My system is throwing a P0456 code so I am trying to check the Evaporative Emission Control System on my 2004 XL-7. I know the most common source of this problem is the gas cap, but that seems to be OK. So, now I am trying to trace the other components of the system. Which leads me to these 2 questions:

One, where is charcoal cannister located on 2004 XL-7?

Second, where is the ECM Controlled Vacuum Switching Valve (VSV) located? This valve seems to be a key part of the system.

This vehicle only has 45K miles on it so it should not be anything particularly unique. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Bob

Never mind. Problem solved. New gas cap from Pep Boys (Stant item # 11825) for $7.95 versus genuine Suzuki cap for $30 keeps the light off.

Since Suzuki cap appears to only be good for 45K miles, I figure the Stant cap will be a bargain. By way of comparison, my 1996 GMC van has over 160K miles on it without a gas cap failure and my wife's 1998 Buick had over 140K miles without a gas cap failure. So, I was certainly surprised to have this gas cap be a problem at 45K miles. Live and learn!

I my opinion and past experiences, Stant makes the best gas caps. They also are OEM parts for many of the auto manufacters - not Suzuki. Go figure.
