HELP PLZ auto gearbox light 2Lt Diesel

hi guys n gals

i have a 2Ltr Diesel Auto 51 reg (2001?) GV, 90K miles

been ok but a gearbox light has just come on today
(Orange gearbox picture just above the 60mph on the speedo)

oil is high enough on the dipstick for the Gearbox

SEEMS to still run ok but,
is there any USUAL things to check first before i go down the £££ garage route?

Are you referring to the gearbox or the power steering pump??? .. Philip

i found out it is the engine management warning light
(shaped like a gearbox? hence, thought it was gearbox)

took it to a local electronics place that's been OK with us in the past
£40 got a code of
P0243 turbocharger waXXXgate solenoid A
(waXXXgate is "i cant read his writing")

any idea on approx price (United Kingdom)
or how easy/hard a job it is?

he's reset the error code, and said some faults come up, then never return, if that's the case,

anyone else had this?

all sorted, replaced the relay and wotnot. cost £300 but seems to be a happy zuke again.
