Exclamation 2003 petrol v6 loss of power

2003 v6 grand Vitara Motor cutting out. Ran rough engine light came on and now starts and then cuts out, smells rich when it does run?
Never had a problem with it beffore.
How do I check the codes?? Do I bridge b&d or does it also need a fuse put in place to test??:

It's OBD-II either get a scanner or take it to your local auto parts place and have it scanned.

I see from your other post that you've got some odd (potentially serious) issues going on there.

I have a grand vitara v6 that has decided to stop. Engine light was coming on and motor cutting out.Got it home and it fires up and then cuts out. Smells ritch but also noticed if you say turn A/C fan off it cuts motor out as well.????
How about a little background. Fording through water lately? An earlier engine problem or some fender bender / impact maybe? Blown fuses found?

Yep, scan needed for sure just as a baseline. See this for location / explanation of scanning.

Angry loss of power

I had it tested and a P0403 code egr circuit malfunction came out. The car now runs fine.
Does anyone know of common faults with egr circuit. The valve is $585.
Would like to hear of any common faults before throwing money at a valve.

Search that one. It has been concisely addressed and corrected on several threads.
