Default airbag light comes on

Hi guys, I'm a new one in here......but I've bean reading your posts in the forum since last year when I bought my '2002 vitara .It is in good shape, 30k miles and very well kep.....but now the air bag light had came on, I did a scan and it passed, no codes.There is not a passenger side conector to the air bag as I can see.
Can anyone help me to solve this problem ?? thxs in advance

most aftermarket scanners wont read airbag codes, you may have to spend a little money and get scanned by a dealer..
a fairly common issue in those years was the contact coil behind the steering wheel.
a quick test for that is see if your horn works, the horn wiring goes through the same contact coil for airbag

Thank you lumpylarry.........I think it will help me .The horn is working ok,so I ll look for a decent Shop to take my Vitara (which will be the most difficult part since I live in Dominican republic ) and I'll post the results in hope it'll hepl someone else............

You can read an Air Bag Code with a paper clip using the two pole yellow air bag connector under the dash and below the steering column. It's a little complicated; so, read the factory Service Manual Air Bag Section carefully!
