Question gear oil change

Hi guys...another newbie question here and i know that i can get a lot of info from our GV gurus' out there...my question is: is there a specific time interval to change the gear oils? i mean, the differential, transmission and transfer gear oil? aside from the 7500 miles requirement as i read in this forum?

because i have a pre-owned 2002GV and it doesn't come with a manual and i don't have any idea when was the last gear oil change. btw, I've got the vehicle with ODO reading at around 68,000km on it. Do I need to change the gear oil with this mileage?Any suggestion/comments please...

Thanks in advance.

Mornin' Avin. Have you got the time!

Generally speaking, gear oil changes every 40-60K miles. More frequently if doing a lot of towing or off-roading (severe use, per the manual). Recommend using a synthetic gear oil too.

See this these for change info...

When I buy a used vehicle the first thing I do after getting it home and the title transfer is a full preventative maintenance - full inspection and replace all service items - you can space these out to spread the cost.

So, when I bought my pre-owned GV, the first week I changed engine oil, oil, air & fuel filters, plugs & belts and two weeks later, I replaced the transmission, transfer case & front & rear differential oils.

Now I KNOW when last what was changed.

Thumbs up

Thanks guys, you help me a lot...Now i know that I'm getting closer to that 40k-60k mile gear oil changes...BTW my ride is only use in normal city driving not even tried for off-roading since it is with us.

Max, thanks for the links for free down loading of service manuals...I already done it this morning

Fordem, good idea mate, i might do it as well to spread out the expenses.
