The instrument cluster takes some effort to pull. here the instructions i got to take it out from the drivers seat.
I find it easiest if you first remove the top panel, then get your hand in from the top, then push or pull up on the left most tab (there are 4 or 5 along the top) of the bezel while pulling the bezel toward you.
Once you pop it out enough to get your fingers around the bezel, yank it out. It might help to push or pull the other tabs along the top while working your way around.

You can try prying the bezel out with a plastic tool, but I had no luck with that. My detailing tool specifically used for removing trim pieces would just bend at the tip. Also, the bezel doesn't have a thin edge where something can catch onto. You'd have to wedge a tool in 1/4" before it can catch the lip of the bezel. By then your dash would be marred.
Once you have the bezel out, you remove 4 screws - 2 on top and 2 on the base of the cluster. Then unplug the 2 connectors at the back, push them aside and pull out the cluster from the top hole. It's easier if you tilt the cluster towards you while getting the right side of the cluster out first.
When you unplug the harness, I find it easier if you press down on the lock clip of the connector with your index finger, releasing it, while pulling on the harness with your other hand.
Once the cluster is out, you can unscrew the dead bulb socket from the back of the cluster and replace the bulb. If you have 2003 or up, the socket is recessed so you'll need pliers or something to catch the blue bulb socket to turn.

with the cover off you will see this...well minus the leds.
I hope this helps. i have a 06 so this is the best i can do for your guys.
