There is no easy or hard way, only one way. First pull the VC, you can do this one of two ways, if you have a book, it will tell you which tappets are closed at a certain time, I just rolled the engine around with a ratchet on the crank bolt with the plugs out until the valve was closed. Start with the front and work back or vice versa, roll the engine until the cam lobe is on the base circle for the tappet you are adjusting, (when the lobe points away from the tappet), check and adjust the clearance as needed using thickness gauges. Repeat for the other tappets.
