'93 tracker, USA, 1.6 8v, 5spd, 4wd, need to reliably run 75mph
In our RV travels, have found that many hiways now have 75mph limits, which means that everyone runs 80 plus. The 1.6 8v engine is running at 4,000 rpm at 70mph. This engine is currently using 1 qt. oil every 500-600 miles so am at a point where I will need to either rebuild it or upgrade to more power.
I have a 16 valve '94 1.6 engine available. Don't know if that one would be better or if there is a another power plant that would be better than either.
BTW, does anyone know the horsepowers of the 8 valve and 16 valve engines?
Am looking for options that may give me more power to pull a taller gear.
Are taller gears available so I don't run the guts out of whatever I put in it?
