Default Removing Front Fenders

Hi,

New to the forum but I've owned a 93 Geo Tracker for a couple of years now. I was using it for commuting but the insurance was so high on it that I wasn't saving anything over the gas money that would have gone in to my other vehicle so I parked it and now it's a project for my 14 year old son and I to work on to get it ready for when he turns 16.

The front fenders and doors are rusted through, so I bought a 90 GMC Tracker to take the fenders, doors, hardtop, rims and tires etc. and just be a general donor car.

To take the front fenders off, I see there is a little phillips head screw at the very front of the fender above the bumper skin. To get the fenders off do I have to take off the front bumper to access these screws, or have others managed to get in there and pry off the threaded clip that it screws in to? I'll probably look at pulling off the front bumper, but I didn't want to do that right away as I'm sure the bolts/nuts are pretty rusted and it would take a bit of heat/penetrating oil/impact gun to get this off.

Also, have a question regarding removing the doors. I pulled the pin for the door stopper, and pulled off the circlips on the hinge pins, but are those two piece pins? Does the one tapered end come out first then punch the capped end out?

Thanks,

Lorne.
