Hi, I could be wrong but usually the walls are ok. My big worry is how long it's been doing this and how much coolant is really in the oil. Antifreeze in your oil (if enough) will trash your crank bearings. Normally I have found no damage to the head itself other than valve guides.

The over heating can be caused by ,
low antifreeze
exaust blowback into waterjacket
cracked block.
Find out if it over heats. If not then good chance block not cracked.

If your going to buy it , MAKE a big deal of the bad contion of the motor, which is true, and quite offten the price can drop like a rock.

But remember that you will have plenty of work ahead of you.

Odds are..new head gasket, water pump, possibly crank bearings.

Worst case is cracked block........very bad.(try to include exeption in sale for cracked block)
