damaged dashboard clock?

I have a chevy epica 2004
Lately the dashboard digital clock started randomly to turn off. At least the display, because when it came back, it was ok time wise. Couple a days ago went off for good and now I'm trying to see if is a damaged clock or something else (electric) that powers up the clock.
Any experience in this area?
Also related to electric system another question. The same style, randomly, the day lights are shutting off, but this is happening quite rare, maybe 2-3 times a year, and only when I'm entering in the underground parking. Is there a senzor that is damaged?
