motor
man. tranny is 5th gear is 1:1 and OD is 1:0.86 in 5th ( diff od ratios on 2wd !)
xfr case is 1:1 , in 2H and 4H, and
1.81:1 4L
so in 4th gear, 2H, the engine spins 1 rev , and same at rear axle pinion.
keep that in mind and all else makes sense. see?
3000 rpm in 4th above is 3000 rpm at rear axle pinion and 5.12 times lower at wheel.
knowing THAT you can calc. distance traveled if you know circumference of tire. Pi x D. = Cir.
distance a second, is found, then times 60 , is distance a minute. ( one must work out miles over inches too)
one can buy 4.24:1 transfer case gears .
the wiki and ever good 4wd web site has gear modelers , that show you how to do it or just pump it in and get an answer.
that's correct, 5.12 turns on pinion , spins wheel 1 time. (crawl under put car in neutral
with both wheels jacked up ,and spin it. and count , 1 potato , 2 potato.
