most 16valve trackers , have interference motors.
if your V6 does, and i think it does.
then it most likely has bent valves at the least.
the damage is made worse by speed at the point of loss of chain.
some times, the chain an slip a tooth or 2 and not HIT but will have so bad compression the motor will die and save itself.
its like juggling molotov cocktails
real hard to predict results.

one must take motor down to access the damage, DYI
or
in a quality shop , a Fiber optic bore scope. , look see damage.
$200 in chain parts.
or new heads
or new motor.
