A 51 plate (2001 registration) Suzuki Jimney probably has an OBD2 socket somewhere near the steering wheel. It looks a bit like a TV scart socket with approx 16 connections.
You will need a fault code reader - it will give you some idea of the cause of the check engine light coming on.
Once the fault has been fixed the fault code reader can be used to switch off the engine light.
