Short answer from a (mostly) newb to zukes: Though they can bolt in theres LOTS of differences. Wiring/sensors totally different. ECU totally different. Try to get a same year 16v to replace yours, ie if its '96 & has obdII get an obdII 16v engine. The 16v is more powerful & more fuel efficient, it's only drawback is you MUST do timing belt on schedule (60k miles) because it's an interferece engine & if it slips... big engine damage. Valves crash into pistons, bent valves at best & potentially lots worse. Guessing thats what happened to your original? Just my 2 cents.
