a road map is essental , no?
new ecu, new ignitor.
fire, ? a are you testing with a test spark plug directly connected to the coil.
top High voltage tower terminal? (plug grounded ,no hands ok)
do you have a digital Multi meter, that can measure ohms.?
measure the coil ( unplugged) primary and secondary resistance.
primary: low ,like 10ohms ( i have spec) Brown/wht to blk/wht.
secondary : high like over 50,000 ohms. HV term to Blk./wht
on your car, the fuel pump relay can be removed and there WILL BE SPARK.
how ever ,the MAIN relay must be good.
it sits right next to FPrelay.
who to check that , that is easy. anyone can do it.
lets not try to test it, lets just see if it is doing its job. far easier.
see blue black wire there on the attached print.?
if you have 12vdc to any of those items listed, then the Relay is working.
check while cranking.
This proves you have full power. ( see dizzy power ,see a12 a13 on ecu)
btw , the fuel pump and relay get power from the MAIN relay.
so if the fule pump buzzes, you do have power. (cap off tank .listen)
if power is good
you then need to check both the CAS and the coil drive.
toss a coin.
there is only 3 ways to test this.
1: scope. ( you dont have it)
2: led and resistor .
3: throw parts and go broke. (sorry)
The CAS can be tested 3 ways:
scope, Meter VM and a LED/resistor.
it is possible to make spark with just a 3cent resistor in your hand.
one can unplug the ECU and place a resistor jumper and make spark.
just like in the old days of points dizzys
SPARK: (assuming power to ecu and associates)
CAS ,generate signal, goes to ECU , Ecu makes spark signal that drives the Ignitor which in turn drives the coil and spark happens.
its really just 4 parts, and some wire.
so when spark fails , the problem is the CAS (INPUT)
or the output of ECU is bad or the coil or ignitor are dead.
both sides can be tested and it only costs 10 cents if you have a DMM.
this problem can be diagnosed.
tell me more.
cheers
