The ride on short Samurai leafs are rough. I haven't found a short set of springs that aren't. But they are not as rough as Rancho or BDS, but more durable then a stock spring. The best shocks i have found have been the Rancho 9000's (adjustables). The smoothest springs I have ridden on have been longer YJ's. I have seen others successfully run YJ's in a SPUA (spring under) configuration, but you will still need to relocate the mounts and use adaptive shackles. The coil option is there, and we will be doing that to a staff vehicle for next summer, but the fabrication is at a higher level (unless you buy a pricey kit). If you wanted to buy a kit, then Trail Tough has has a great Trail Slayer setup that rides like a caddy.
