Thanks for the reply, yes it might be a strut, the whole temperature thing has me thinking it's that. Today after a spell of about ten days of unseasonably warm weather, it was cooler and the noise was very rarely heard. My full coverage ran out a while ago and I never purchased another...and don't know if I will. I don't know how long I'm going to hold onto it if parts start flying off. It's been a fine car so far with none of the issues I've read about...so far.
